Nicole Longmire, IBCLC

Holistic, full spectrum, trauma-informed perinatal support in Melbourne Florida

Book a Visit

Hi, I’m Nicole — an IBCLC (lactation consultant), childbirth educator, certified life coach, and postpartum doula specializing in perinatal mental health. But more than that, I’m someone who deeply understands the messy, beautiful, transformative seasons of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — because I’ve lived them too. After moving through my own journey of trauma, loss, and burnout, I became passionate about redefining what support looks like — not just clinically, but emotionally and soulfully. This isn’t just about parenting — it’s about honoring the full spectrum of the human experience in one of life’s most powerful transitions.

I provide full spectrum perinatal support—guiding and caring for parents through every stage of the perinatal journey. From pregnancy and labor to the postpartum months, I support the physical, emotional, and practical needs of each parent and family. My approach recognizes the whole human experience: the joy, the uncertainty, the exhaustion, and the transformation that comes with bringing a new life into the world. My work is rooted in creating trauma-aware, compassionate spaces where you will feel seen, supported, and empowered. Whether you're navigating new motherhood, healing from birth trauma, or just trying to keep your identity intact while raising tiny humans, I’m here to walk with you.

You don’t have to settle for someone with whom you can only partially show up, someone with whom you don’t fully connect. Things I can help you with:

  • Sessions range from $50-$200, depending on length, services, and insurance. Please see my “investment” page for a menu of my services and offerings. I also can work with uninsured clients on a sliding scale, so please be sure to let me know and we can find a price that works for you!

  • I know that paying for a lactation consultant can feel like a lot upfront, and it’s natural to weigh the cost. But think of it as an investment in you and your baby. One session now can prevent weeks of stress, sleepless nights, or pain from latch or supply issues. It can also reduce the likelihood of early supplementation or formula, which can get expensive and frustrating if breastfeeding doesn’t go as planned.

Basically, spending $150–$200 now isn’t just for the session — it’s for peace of mind, confidence, and a higher chance of meeting the feeding goals you’ve set for yourself and your baby. In comparison, struggling without support can cost you far more in time, money, and emotional energy.

  • I accept some insurances for lactation consulting through The Lactation Network. Here is the link to check on your coverage: https://go.lactationnetwork.com/mothernurturelactation

  • I want everyone to find someone with whom they can fully show up and feel aligned with. If. it helps, these are my “ethos” which might give you a taste of what it’s like to work with me:

    1. I honor rhythm over urgency: I respect the body’s pace—mine and my client’s. I do not rush healing, bonding, or milk. I allow time for unfolding and integration. Slowness is intelligence in infant feeding and in care.

    2. I center relationship, not just results: Feeding is relational, not transactional. I prioritize presence, connection, and trust before protocols or outcomes. The feeling of being supported is just as important as what’s produced.

    3. I practice from wholeness: I honor the mother as a whole being—not just a milk-maker. I hold space for grief, pleasure, trauma, power, and transformation. Lactation lives in the body—but also in the story, the nervous system, and the spirit.

    4. I honor capacity and consent: I offer guidance without pressure, and I check in about what’s truly possible right now.

    5. I trust the body, even when it’s struggling: I hold reverence for the body’s intelligence, even in challenge. I partner with the mothers wisdom—not just my expertise. This work is not about fixing—it’s about remembering.

    6. I tend to the emotional soil: I recognize that infant feeding often stirs up grief, rage, shame, and joy. I make space for those feelings, and I don’t pathologize them.

    7. I challenge extractive systems: I name and interrupt the ways capitalism, racism, and patriarchy show up in infant feeding—whether through formula marketing, inadequate postpartum support, or systemic neglect. Lactation support is activism. Nourishment is political.

    8. I rest and replenish to sustain this work: I do not martyr myself in the name of care. I make space for my own grief, embodiment, and regeneration—because my presence matters. We can’t pour from an empty body—or hold from a burnt-out heart.

    9. I work with the ecosystem, not against it: I understand that every family is part of a larger ecology—cultural, relational, historical. I tailor my care to fit their environment, values, and capacity. There is no one-size-fits-all latch, schedule, or story.

    10. I believe in collective thriving: I contribute to a culture of shared learning, collaboration, & mutual care among parents and providers. I don’t gatekeep knowledge or power.

  • No! The idea of "mothering" is not confined to biological mothers but is a universal archetype found in nearly all cultures. It represents the giver of life, nurturer, and healer.

In 2024, I began offering women’s circles and women’s retreats for women of all ages and stages of life.

In 2026 I will be offering a coaching program for those who work in birth/lactation support.
